About Native Watercraft

Native Watercraft was founded in 2006 by a small group of like-minded paddlesports industry veterans who were tired of working for larger companies in the paddlesports industry that were singularly motivated by profit margins. Believing that the sport deserved thoughtfully developed and well crafted products this group set out to do just that.

The initial product launched set the industry on its head and the rest is history. The Ultimate, a hybrid kayak/canoe set performance standards for stability, utility and lightweight resulting in the creation of whole new category. Today almost all kayak companies have a product in their line-up that is directly influenced or inspired by this innovative kayak.

Other major innovations include the design and development of the Propel pedal drive system. This elegant and lightweight drive system is the most efficient system on the market and provides features that no other drive system matches.

The newest member of the Propel drive family is the Slayer. The original Slayer (non-Propel drive) was introduced in October 2012 to wide acclaim and has quickly become the go-to choice for kayak angling. In October 2013 the Slayer Propel will be launched bringing greater capabilities to an already great watercraft.

Native Watercraft products are designed and manufactured in Fletcher, NC in Henderson County by a deeply committed group of employees who are proud to be a part of western North Carolina’s outdoor industry.
